INTRODUCTION
Industrial hygiene is the study of the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of workplace environmental factors that may cause sickness, impaired health and wellbeing, or significant discomfort and inefficiency among workers or citizens of the community.
Occupational health and hygiene services involve: investigating workplace accidents and statistics; conducting compliance inspections and detailed audits of workplaces; carrying out hygiene assessments of various physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic agents in the workplace in order to protect worker health; evaluating and inspecting radiation control measures in workplaces; and enforcing occupational health and safety legislation.
