INTRODUCTION
HSE inspections are a way of systematically checking that an organisation’s working environment and procedures are meeting the required legal standards. An inspection should identify hazards and be the first step in introducing measures to improve conditions. They can be formal, informal, recorded or unrecorded, but what is important is that they are carried out to a set standard at an appropriate frequency.
An HSE inspector may visit an organisation to examine the arrangements in place for assessing and controlling risks from work-related pressures or other workplace health, safety and environmental issues.
Inspectors will be looking for evidence that the organisation has undertaken or plans to complete a suitable and sufficient risk assessment.
